Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 until Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is an unassuming town located in the West Island, which is part of the Montreal island. It is a bit of a mystery as the West Island can be confusing for those who aren't familiar of its purpose. It is often believed that it is an island to the west of Montreal, but it is actually a part of the city. West Island encompasses everything between the cities that are Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel's birthplace is frequently referenced, however her brief stay wasn't. Brugel was raised in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. When she was a child, she wanted to be the next big thing in her career, but a sudden increase in her height made it difficult. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she revealed that she wore heels and was six feet and one inch tall. After I outgrew the male dancers, I decided to quit. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in the case of Brugel it was an urging by her teacher of drama. The teacher was the one who encouraged her to try out as Anne in the school's annual production. She auditioned and was cast in the role of Anne of Green Gables. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. In the 20+ years that followed, Brugel has been offered roles in over 60 shows on both small and large screens, attracting the greatest interest when she was offered the character of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the character Rita in the Handmaid's Tale the series filmed over ten years ago.
